Peer Feedback & Evaluation

This is a print screen of my 5 feedbacks i received from my group.
My own view on my animation is that I think it works really well, i chose a really hard song to match the words up and if i were to do it again i would of chose something completely different and easier to do, I also would have put the words differently, by this i mean i would have planned out another way or made the words larger for the camera to be able to see them clear, i would also plan how i would of put them across the paper which was my initial idea but as my computer crashed and the words kept on falling off, i needed the correct equipment to do that and unfortunately i didn't. If i were to do it again I would have bought some new blue tack and harder paper so it was easier to hold, I would of also desegnated areas for the lyrics to go just incase they fell off I would be able to put them back into the same place.
The feedback from my peers mostly said that I chose a really hard song to sync my lyrics up to, which if i new how hard it would be and how many lyrics i would need to print out and organise i would have changed the song.
One comment also said that the words were fairly hard to see, this is an example of one of the words that weren't as clear as I hoped it would of come out:

I agree with this comment because the lyrics in the first place were fairly hard to understand but holding them up to the screen didn't help also so i would change the way that each picture had to be exactly the same.

I could have improved my work by changing the song and making the lyrics more easy to read, I could have used a different website for the lyrics so it would be more clear to read, I would also change the way the lyrics go on to the screen so they aren't moving and are closer to the camera.
I have taken on board the comments that i received and i agree with them all, but i wont be changing my video as as much as i agree with them all as it was so time consuming i'm going to leave it how it is.

This is a similar video to mine:

I think that this video is alot more thought out than mine, I think that in this video the text is alot clearer which makes the video alot more easier to see, I think that she also used drawings which were alot neater than mine and alot bigger which visually worked alot better. The words also are clearer to see as they are bigger and carefully drawn out so the audience can view them easier. She held the pictures up straight without moving them which also helped too. Over all I think that this video worked alot better than mine did, as it is more easier to read and the words are bigger and drawn out which would of been a better idea for me to do instead of using the internet for it to generate my lyrics as i think thats where i went wrong, they need to be more clear.

If i were to do my video again I would change the lyrics completely from the 'ransom notes' to scrabble lettering
I would have used this because it is alot more clear and visible, it is also extremely easy to read compared to the text that I used for my animation.

My Final Animation.

My first initial idea was to put the lyrics across the screen via a piece of paper for them all to stay on. After having major dificulty of keeping the lyrics onto the piece of paper and in the same place, my computer crashed and I unfortunetely lost everything. So I had to come up with an idea as fast as possible so I was still managed to complete my animation on time, I thought by holding up the lyrics this was the fastest way I could complete it in time, and also as the lyrics were so small i would be able to hold them up to the camera closer so they were easier to read.
This is what i came out with:

I think that it turned out a lot better than i expected, but was very time consuming.
I think that if i were to do it again i would make sure that the writing was still so wasn't a little blurry, i would also change the song so that it wasn't so fast so that the video didn't have to have so many lyrics in. I would also change the font as i think if i had more time i would be able to find easier to read font.
Over all i am pleased with my final animation and think this it is in sync with the lyrics and thought it worked really well.
I took 387 pictures which i then had to duplicate so that they were in sync with the voice on the song, which was fairly hard as the song was quite fast, I had to get help with the photos and the music as I chose a fast song and found it really difficult.

To start my animation I used iStop motion to take all the pictures with the lyrics on,
This is a print screen from the internet of iStop motion
I used this software as it is the easiest software to create a cut out animation on.
I then used Sony Vegas to first of all sync all the lyrics up,
This is a print screen i fount on the internet of Sony Vegas:

I did this by making all the pictures last longer than a millisecond to last as long as the lyrics on the song, this was fairly hard as i had to listen to the song over and over again to sync both up together. I then had to  sync the song at the start when the lyrics I started with which was 0:25 seconds in, I then had to make sure that all the lyrics were in sync with the song.

My Own Animation

To prepare for my animation I first had to find out what lyrics i was going to use, I then had to go on the internet and find a website that generated words into 'ransom notes' which was the website i found. I then had to put all the lyrics into it to create the words for me to use.
I had to print them as big as possible for them to fit on a big enough piece of paper, which took a while to get them big enough for the camera to be able to see what they said.
I have printed out all the words and cut them out and sorted them into order of the song, i have grouped them into which verse and the chorus. This makes it a lot easier so that next lesson i will be able to start to produce my animation by starting my animation by using iStopMotion. So far i think i am on track to completing my animation in a few lessons time.

My Progress..

I have started to find my lyrics and print them all out using a generator on Google.

I searched on Google to find a word generator for words to come out like a ransom note, i found this one 'http://ransom.sytes.org/' - I used this because I can add each sentence in easy with out doing each word at a time which wont be as time consuming so I will be able to get on track for starting my animation.
This is a print screen on all my screen shots:

Next I need to print out my words and cut them all up into order which i shall do next lesson, I am on track to finish my animation in a few lessons time.

Dope/ Exposure Sheets

We went through an exposure sheet and listened to a sound which was 'elephant' and we went through each section and broken down the sound.
This is my exposure sheet:

I then made a video using this so that the sound went with the video.

I like the way that this turned out as you can see the way the person says 'elephant'

Research For My Own Animation

These are a few ideas for my own animation:
I have had a look at many different videos on YouTube as ideas and this was my favourite
I liked this because of how realistic it looked to the real thing, I would like my own animation to be something like this as it looks really creative and entertaining. I like when the  things splatter as it looks really good when they vanish, i also like how when Mario hits the yellow block the penny comes out like the actual game.
Another idea is to make a music video using cut out animation.
This is an example off YouTube:

I like this idea because it looks fun and is attracting to the audience. I would like my animation to turn out like this with me in it using paper and drawings to create a 30 second music video to a song. I like how bright the video looked also.
This is another example of a model based music video which i found on YouTube:
I like this because it looks very creative but the only problem, it looks very time consuming.

My Final Idea
My final idea is to make a music video using cut out animation. I am going use my self as a model and take a series of photos to create a 30 second clip using words and drawings to create lyrics to match the song.
I changed my idea from the clay animation to the lyric cut out video because I thought that even though they clay looked alot more entertaining and creative, it also looked alot more time consuming having to make everything out of clay, although I could have drawn the background my self I'm not the best drawer so it wouldn't have looked as proffessional as I would like it to.
I am going to use 'Kanye West - Homecoming' for my song. This is the original music video for The song:

I picked this song because it's lively and has two different paces in the song so a section of it is fast then slow paced so will be fairly easy to do and to show different types of pictures and lyrics.
i will use up to 30 seconds of this song.

This is where i will take my series of photos:

I am going to use the first 30 seconds of this video:

=
I will start from '0:25' in the video as that is where the singing starts.

These are the full lyrics of the song, the highlighted part is what I will use for my animation:

I met this girl when I was three years old
And what I loved most, she had so much soul
She said, "Excuse me, little homie, I know you don't know me
But my name is Wendy and I like to blow trees"
And from that point I never blow her off

Niggas come from outta town, I like to show her off
They like to act tough, she like to tow 'em off
And make 'em straighten up their act 'cause she know they soft
And when I grew up, she showed me how to go downtown

And at nighttime my face lit up, so astoundin'
And I told her in my heart is where she always be
She never mess with entertainers 'cause they always leave
She said it felt like they walked and drove on me

Knew I was gang affiliated, got on TV and told on me
I guess it's why last winter she got so cold on me
She said, "YeKeep makin' that, keep makin' that platinum and gold for me"
(I'm comin' home again)

Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?'
Cause I'm comin' home again, 'min' home againDo you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
Oh, now I'm comin' home again
Maybe we could start again
But if you really cared for her
Then you wouldn't've never hit the airpor
tTo follow your dream, sometimes I still talk to her
But when I talk to her, it always seems like she talkin' about me
She said, "You left your kids and they just like you
They wanna rap and make soul beats just like you
But they just not you and I just got through
Talkin' 'bout what niggas tryin' to do just not new"
Now everybody got the game figured out all wrong
I guess you never know what you got 'til it's gone
I guess this is why I'm here and I can't come back home
And guess when I heard that when I was back home
Every interview I'm representin' you, makin' you proud
Reach for the stars so if you fall you land on a cloud
Jump in the crowd, spark your lighters, wave 'em around
And if you don't know by now, I'm talkin' about Chi Town
(I'm comin' home again)
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?'
Cause I'm comin' home again, 'min' home again
Baby, do you remember when fireworks at Lake Michigan?
Oh, now I'm comin' home again, 'min' home again
Baby, do you remember when fireworks at Lake Michigan?
Oh, now I'm comin' home again, maybe we could start again
Loyee, oyee, oh, loyee, oyee, oh
Comin' home again
Loyee, oyee, oh, loyee, oyee, oh
Comin' home again
Maybe we could start again

Cell Based Animation

Cell based animation is a traditional form of animation, this is mainly used for cartoons and animated movies. Cell based animation is where each frame is drawn by hand, it has to be 12 frames per second other wise the quality of the animation won't be any good. This means that the animator needs to draw 12 frames per second, 720 frames per minute. So cell based isn't the most quickest animation to do as it is very time consuming which is a disadvantage.
Many famous cartoons have used cell based animation such as Betty Boop, Tom & Jerry, Pop Eye and many more.
This is an example of Betty Boop, which was originally made for adults but then became viewable for all.

Betty Boop was created by Max Fletcher in 1930 in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes as a dog, but then became to be a jazz singer based on Helen Kane. People then became to take offense to the references made so she then became a house wife and that was when she became viewable for all.

feedback

'Not too bad sally i a bit more information would not go a miss though.' - Ben Heward

I have read this comment and took it into consideration.
