Cell based animation is a traditional form of animation, this is mainly used for cartoons and animated movies. Cell based animation is where each frame is drawn by hand, it has to be 12 frames per second other wise the quality of the animation won't be any good. This means that the animator needs to draw 12 frames per second, 720 frames per minute. So cell based isn't the most quickest animation to do as it is very time consuming which is a disadvantage.
Many famous cartoons have used cell based animation such as Betty Boop, Tom & Jerry, Pop Eye and many more.
This is an example of Betty Boop, which was originally made for adults but then became viewable for all.
Betty Boop was created by Max Fletcher in 1930 in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes as a dog, but then became to be a jazz singer based on Helen Kane. People then became to take offense to the references made so she then became a house wife and that was when she became viewable for all.
